Héctor Dorantes

BIOGRAPHY
Héctor Dorantes is a transdisciplinary artist based in Mexico City whose work is rooted in radical exploration. With a background in International Business from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM), he abandoned that path to delve into the limits of chaos as a field of aesthetic creation. His work emerges from the concept of existential maximalism, emphasizing immersive abstracted superstructures as sites of intensified experience.
As a member of UXTA (Unidad Experimental de Transaestética Aplicada), an organization focused on happenings, installations, and performances, he contributes with works inspired by punk, post-irony, metamodernism, and expressionist drones, fostering alternative dialogues. He has collaborated in free improv ensembles such as Polyamour, Las Flores de Hiroshima, Espuma Ácida and Les Sertraline’s.
Dorantes’ gestural approach across diverse media has earned him recognition, including the “Best Young Painter” award in Jalisco (2018). He has participated in underground and avant-garde exhibitions, such as New Mexican Muralism at Studio Croma (2023), and his work has been featured in publications at “Nadie tiene estudio” in Nexos (2025) and international art fairs and exhibitions such as “Callejón de Los Irrealistas Esperanzados” by Gallery Bogart at Salón Acme (2025) and “Los Invitados” by Grupo Máxico in Venice, Italy (2024).
