Gallery Bogart Announces Representation of Kansas City Artist César López as he joins Yale’s Prestigious MFA Program

KANSAS CITY, MO – September 10, 2025 – Gallery Bogart is honored to announce its official representation of the artist César López. This partnership is solidified as López, a formidable talent cultivated in the Kansas City art scene, embarks on a major new chapter: attending the prestigious Yale University’s School of Art for his MFA in Sculpture.

Born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, López’s sophisticated sculptural practice explores the complex systems of global migration and their impact on identity. His meticulously crafted aluminum and 3D-printed sculptures are a physical articulation of these systems, distilling his own migratory pattern into a recurring curve motif that serves as a building block for his visual language.

Gallery Bogart first presented López’s work in his 2023 solo exhibition, Equidistant. López’s work is held in the permanent collection of the Nelson-Atkins Museum and has been exhibited at institutions including the Arlington Museum of Contemporary Art and the Kansas City Museum, with forthcoming exhibitions at the Kemper Museum of Art, the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art (Chicago), and the Ulrich Museum of Art.

“We have followed César’s powerful work in Kansas City for years. His unique vision and conceptual rigor are undeniable. Seeing him ascend to a program like Yale is a testament to his talent, and we are thrilled to be his home gallery in Kansas City as his national career blossoms.” – Miller Bogart, Gallerist, Gallery Bogart

“I am very excited to participate in the future of Gallery Bogart. I strongly believe in the talent within Kansas City, and the gallery’s commitment to rigorous, boundary-pushing art makes it the ideal partner.” – César López

To celebrate this new partnership, a new limited-edition sculpture, Structural Form: Coupling, 2025, has been made available through the gallery. Gallery Bogart will present López’s second solo exhibition in March 2026.
